Tour Guide Training and Training of Trainers

December 2017: Application for training youths as Tour Guides was successful as part of a four year EU funded project in conjunction with YEP-The Gambia, developing Sustainable Tourism in Janjanbureh and surrounding areas. Five members of Just Act continue to be trained as Trainers of Trainers developing the concept of CBT (Community Based Tourism) through Central River Region and other areas of the country.

A 6 month project with a grant from The Girl Generation to provide community training and advocacy on FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) in four areas of Central River Region.

PROJECTS
CURRENT PROJECTS
In 2015 JUST ACT was registered as an independent organisation with The National Youth Council The Gambia retaining the same Main Aims as Just Act Gambia:-

To enable community-led development
-
To support accredited and non - accredited training through local organisations thereby developing life skills and income earning opportunities

To maximise the use of local expertise in developing training
-
To enable Janjanbureh and surrounding areas to develop responsible, sustainable pro-poor tourism for the benefit of the community whilst respecting the local culture, traditions and the natural environment

To enable rural regeneration so the school population of today is assured of a prospering town sufficient to reduce rural /urban/ illegal migration

Development of River Fishing Enterprise
supported by grant from IOM enabled by NYC

Initiated in June 2016 after a meeting under the auspices of the National Youth Council, provided by IOM, a bid was put forward for a grant for a river fishing boat to provide employment to youths of the island and provide a regular supply of much needed river fish to the community.
Sensitisation was provided in November and the fibreglass motorised boat was delivered in December 2016.
